New Jersey Governor Chris Christie says that President Obama lied to Americans about the recent Iran negotiations.

Christie says that a bad deal that endangers the world is worse than no deal at all.

"We set up a system in this country of checks and balances in our government to stop this," he said.  "And stop a president who is out of control."

In a crowded field of !6 Republican hopefuls, Christie plans to stand out with specifics.

That includes gradually raising the retirement age over a 25-year period and means testing for Social Security.

"We cannot continue to be a great country until we get this under control," he said.  "We will be Greece, and we cannot have that."

Speaking before nearly 200 packed into the Davenport restaurant, the 90-minute session focuses on international and domestic issues.

Iowa voters, like upcoming first-time voter Elliott Manuel, appreciate the up-close access.

"He's a very straightforward person," Manuel said.  "He doesn't really beat around the bush like some of the other ones do."

In his call to enforce federal laws, he's also pushing reforms for everything from term limits to military benefits.

These themes seem to resonate with the audience during a lengthy question and answer session.

"I guess that will appeal to a lot of people," said Christie supporter Christine Boyer.  "Not just Republicans, but I think it will appeal to Democrats and Independents, too."

Christie won't be an outsider for long.  He'll become a familiar presence in Iowa over coming weeks.

"It's hot now, but it will be cold soon," he joked.

This "Jersey Boy" hopes his campaign will stay hot in the heartland.
