A crash involving a cement truck and a passenger car blocked 78th Avenue west near Turkey Hollow Road in Milan, Illinois.
A westbound cement truck collided with an eastbound Pontiac Grand Am just before 7:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2015, according to Rock Island Sheriff’s Department Deputy Sgt. Randy Heisch, at the scene of the crash.
The man driving the Grand Am was taken by ambulance to an area hospital after he was extricated from the car. The truck driver was not hurt.
The deputy said the cement truck stopped upright, but the load shifted during the crash, causing the truck to slowly overturn on its side after the crash. The overturned truck blocked both lanes of 78th Avenue west of Turkey Hollow Road.
Police expected the road to be blocked until about 10 a.m. or so while the wreckage and spilled concrete was cleared. Westbound traffic was detoured at Turkey Hollow Road; eastbound was detoured at 88th Street West.
