An 18-year-old faced criminal charges after someone reported being assaulted and robbed the same evening they met.
The robbery reportedly happened early Sunday, July 12, 2015, on a gravel road in rural Des Moines County, Iowa. The victim reported being assaulted and robbed "by persons they had met earlier in the evening in Burlington," according to a statement from the Des Moines County Sheriff's Office.
"One of the suspects was armed with a firearm," the statement said.
Five days later, investigators served a search warrant at an apartment in the 300 block of Maple Hills in Burlington. That's when they arrested 18-year-old Donte Marcus James in connection with the alleged robbery.
James was charged with felony second-degree robbery. He was held in the Des Moines County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond. He remained in jail as of Monday morning, July 20.
More arrests are possible, according to Des Moines County Sheriff Mike Johnstone.
