Four teenagers were injured when the car they were in rolled several times, and police say it was caused by the driver texting while driving in Muscatine County.
The crash happened just before 10:30 p.m. Monday, July 13, 2015, on Highway 61 at the 106.7 mile marker in Muscatine County, Iowa.
“The driver of the vehicle was using an electronic communication device and over-corrected, causing the vehicle to catch in the median and roll three times,” said a statement from Muscatine County Sheriff C.J. Ryan.
The driver, 19-year-old Collin Comstock of West Des Moines, suffered minor injuries. Three Davenport teens, who were also in the car at the time of the crash, were identified as 19-year-old Gordon Essex, 18-year-old Dylan Essex and 14-year-old Hayden Essex. All four of the occupants were taken by ambulance to area hospitals. None of their injuries were considered life-threatening.
