A Scott County jury deliberated for nearly three hours over a child sex abuse case on Wednesday, July 15, 2015 before the judge told them they could go home.

The jury heard testimony from the doctor who examined the five year old girl Melvin Lucier  is accused of fondling.

Prosecutors said the 55-year-old, registered sex offender sexually abused the young girl staying in his home at the Patriot Mobile Home Park in March 2014.

The young girl told the doctor Lucier touched her vagina, but the doctor said there was no physical evidence on her body.

Lucier's defense attorney said without that physical evidence, there's not enough to find Lucier guilty.

Lucier is one of two men charged in the case. His half brother pleaded guilty to sexual exploitation charges earlier in the week.

Five mothers living in the same mobile home park were also charged with Child Endangerment.

(editor's note:  The original version of this report identified Lucier as Marvin when his first name is Melvin.  We regret the error.)
