Eric says that even if the theory is true, it still doesn't account for, nor will it offset the heating that will go on in the next decade. He uses two analogies:
"If global warming continues, it's like we're walking up a few flights of stairs over the next 15 years. If the theory of reduced sun spot activity is correct, it may take us down a few stairs, but going back down what we already climbed is highly unlikely."
"You can also forecast by the rate of gray hair on my head and say I'm going to have a full head of Anderson Cooper hair on me. But 15 years from now I could show up completely bald. You can't make that forecast that far out in advance. It'd be nice to see it happen. I'm not saying it's not going to happen. Check back on Good Morning Quad Cities in 2029."
He says that predicting the weather and climate is a difficult science but there's also a lot to learn about the sun's activity and how it affects our weather.
