Runners in Bettendorf are being forced to turn around after flooding wiped out part of a bridge.
"I've seen some mud and water but I haven't seen it closed off ever," said runner Josie Sack.
Crow Creek’s trail bridge has a concrete overlay that is now sitting in water. It happened after heavy rains on Monday.
"I've been running here in town for what, 30 years? So there's a lot of different routes and so if I think one is wet or something I'll pick another one," runner Tom Miller added.
It's a local favorite with plenty of complications.
"There's a lot of mud always around this path. But sometimes that's the fun part and sometimes you kind of just have to turn around and find a different path," said runner Loriane Arikat.
The city is talking with engineers and the contractor to find out how it can be fixed and how long it will take. The bridge cost $84,000 to install. No word yet on how much it will cost to replace.
