It's back to the drawing board for the old Dock restaurant in Davenport. The city terminated their agreement with developer Todd Raufeisen after he missed his deadline for demolishing the building.
However, this time around the Davenport Levee Improvement Commission wants their intentions to be heard. Commission members drafted a letter to city council explaining their vision for the riverfront.
"Having shops, having a restaurant, things such as that the public can go to and still maintain access to the riverfront is what we would like to see," said commission member Lucky lane.
The commission is against any private offices or condos. They say riverfront land is publicly owned and should stay that way. The commission also wants the city council to involve the levee commission on all riverfront projects.
"The intention of the letter is for us to communicate better with the city council. We want to move forward in a positive direction, not deal with the stuff in the past. We want to have the best outcome for the citizens of Davenport," said Lang.
Mayor Bill Gluba told News 8 that demolition of the Dock will take place within the next 45 days and city council will be approving a demolition contract at their next meeting.
