A new agreement between John Deere and the PGA extends the annual tournament in the Quad Cities.

Since 1970 the John Deere Classic has raised $60 million for charity. The Birdies for Charity fundraising efforts will continue, as golf and the Classic are here for another seven years, through 2023, according to spokesmen for the tournament, the PGA and John Deere.

The seven-year extension was announced at a news conference held at Deere & Company World Headquarters Tuesday morning, July 7, 2015.

The new deal takes effect when the current six-year agreement expires after the 2016 tournament.  The tournament began in 1971, and John Deere  became title sponsor in 1998.
