At the New Home Missionary Baptist Church in Galesburg Monday, dozens of people gathered to express their concerns with a potential government shutdown.

Democrats and Governor Rauner have until July 1, 2015 to agree on a budget deal. Last week, Governor Rauner vetoed most of the budget plan Democrats had presented. The plan is $4 billion in the red. Without a deal the Governor's office says some bills won't get paid, like Medicaid payments to hospitals.

Many at the vigil at the church in Galesburg are home healthcare workers or use childcare assistance.

"My case worker enrolled me into childcare assistance program. This allowed me to return to work at ease knowing that my children were safe and I was alive," said Chrystal Lind, who shared her story of domestic violence.

In a statement Catherine Kelly, from Governor Rauner's office said, "For years, Speaker Madigan and the politicians he controls fought for the political class instead of the middle class, which plunged Illinois into a fiscal crisis. Governor Rauner has repeatedly proposed compromises to legislative leaders, but they are uninterested in reform and only want to hike taxes on working families. The administration’s compromises will reform state government to free up resources and grow the economy to protect the most vulnerable and the middle class."
