President Obama addressed the nation following the Supreme Court’s ruling to make same-sex marriage legal in all 50 states.

The Supreme Court made its ruling Friday morning, June 26, 2015. The President made his statement on the ruling just after 10 a.m., saying “America should be very proud.”

In his statement, the President affirmed a founding principle for the country, that all people are created equal.

“This ruling will strengthen all of our communities by offering to all loving same-sex couples the dignity of marriage across this great land,” he said from the White House.
