Check cashing business robbed in Peru, Illinois

Police were working to determine whether the robbery at a check cashing business might be connected to a previous robbery at a credit union in Peru, Illinois.

The Illinois Valley Credit Union, 2107 Marquette Road, was reportedly robbed June 5, 2015.  The suspect in that robbery reportedly wore a bandana over his face, and no weapon was displayed.   A person matching the suspect description was seen that same day, reportedly pulling on locked doors of the First Federal Savings branch in LaSalle.

The Check Into Cash at 1002 Shooting Park Road in Peru was reportedly robbed just after 11 a.m. Monday, June 22, 2015.  The suspect was reportedly armed with a silver handgun, and he wore a black hoodie, jeans and a black and white bandana on his head.  He also wore mirrored sunglasses.

The suspect was last seen running eastbound through the parking lot of a neighboring McDonald’s.

No injuries were reported.  It was unclear how much money the alleged robber might have taken.
