Sewer construction means the intersection of 6th Avenue and 12th Street will be closed in Rock Island starting Monday, June 22, 2015.
Crews will construct a new large-diameter relief sewer, as well as some storm sewer construction, at that location.
If weather allows, local traffic will be allowed access to the intersection again by July 3, 2015. Permanent repairs to the roadway will take longer, though, and an additional closure was expected at a later date.
“Travel delays can be expected during the construction at or near this location. Please follow all posted construction signs for detour directions when needed, and watch for trucks entering and leaving the construction zones,” said a statement from Rock Island Public Works Director Randall Tweet.
