You can play golf and help send kids to college... all at the same time.

On Saturday, June 20th, 2015, QC United held its 15th Annual "Swing Into Education" Golf Outing at Palmer Hills Golf Course in Bettendorf.

The event benefits the QC United College Scholarship Program, which "has been rewarding hard-working but financially challenged QC urban high school students with college scholarships for 15 y ears and is the longest running scholarship program of its kind," said a press release.

Through the golf outing, QC United was able to surpass its goal of more than $100,000 in awarded scholarships.

According to a press release, "over 80 qualified students from 9 different urban high schools" have received QC United Scholarships since 2001 and many of them are also at the golf outing.

"They get to see all these golfers," explained Event Organizer, Kim Riley-Quinn. "They are out here having a good time, which we want them to have a great time, but they also get to see that these people that they never even met before are supporting them and their future endeavors, so we think that is really exciting. It's a good message to our golfers and a good message for these students."

The QC United College Scholarship Program is "unique because of the long-standing partnerships established with our local colleges and universities, with scholarship winners receiving matching funds from Augustana College, Black Hawk College, St. Ambrose University, Scott Community College, and Western Illinois-QC," said a press release.

The QC United Scholarship is awarded to students who do good in school and do good thing in our community.
