People in the Quad Cities are helping the homeless.

On Saturday, June 20th, 2015, Christian Care held a Fill the Truck Food Drive outside of Jewel in Moline.

Organizers say all donations will go straight to their community meal sites, which serve men, women, and children year round.

"This year around this time it seems like donations are down, so what we are trying to do is stock up," said Organizer, Marilyn DeMay. "We have community meal sites as well as two shelters, so we serve approximately 60,000 meals a year or 5,000 a month. It takes a lot of food to do that and right now our shelves are bare."

If you missed the event, the press release states: "Community members wishing to take an active role in stocking the pantry at Christian Care may host a food drive at their church, organization, or social group. Donations are also accepted seven days a week at Christian Care's Rescue Mission, located at 2209 3rd Avenue in Rock Island."
