Assistant Superintendent Lanty McGuire accepted a one-year appointment as interim superintendent of the Moline-Coal Valley School District.

McGuire has been the district’s assistant superintendent for human resources for the past seven years.  He will return to that position for the 2016-2017 school year according to a statement from the district.

“The Board of Education will continue discussions to determine how a permanent superintendent will be selected for the 2016-2017 school year,” the statement said.

“We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with Lanty in this capacity. It is exciting that someone so vested in our District will be at the helm for the next year,” said Board President Justin Anderson.

McGuire has also served as assistant superintendent of special education for the district, and he taught special education at Moline High School from 1990 to 1995.  He previously taught in the Rock Island-Milan School District.
