For one Illinois couple, the year 2015 means they’ll be celebrating their 71st year of marriage.  The Newman, Illinois pair was married in 1944, according to a report by WAND-TV.

“That’s probably a world record. I don’t know,” said husband, Colin Davidson according to WAND-TV.

His wife, Frances, said their life has been great, adding that she “wouldn’t change it for anything.”

“I’d take it again,” she said, “just like it is.”

The history of their love started back in high school, when they were both freshmen, though they didn’t start dating until their junior year. Soon after high school graduation the two married, on June 14, 1944.

According to WAND-TV, the couple shared their secret to a successful marriage: Being cooperative.

“We really don’t have any arguments…” Frances said, “if he wants to do something and I’m not really, real hap on it, I’ll still do it.”

And Colin said he owes it all to his wife.

“She’s been through times when I was about to fall apart, but she kept us all going,” he said. “And everything worked out.”

Though they’ve been married for nearly three-quarters of a century, Frances said it doesn’t seem like it’s been that long.

“When you say 70 years, or 71 years, you say, ‘Oh my that’s a long time,'” Frances said, according to the report. “But when you look back on it, it isn’t. They have gone by so fast.”

According to Guinness World Records, the actual record for the longest marriage was 86 years, 290 days, set by Herbert and Zelmyra Fisher. The two were married May 13, 1924 in North Carolina.
