Survey teams from the National Weather Service confirm storm damage from Thursday night was caused by a tornado. Shortly after 5:30pm a tornado touched down 5.3 miles west of Matherville, Illinois. The tornado was on the ground for six miles with a maximum width of 50 yards.

The damage path was primarily done to trees. Some power lines were also reported downed. According to the report, the tornado had an intensity of EF-1 on the Enhanced Fujita Scale with wind speeds around 100 mph.
