Five people were hurt in an early morning shooting just west of downtown Davenport.

On Friday, June 5, 2015, police were called to two local hospitals around 5:20 a.m. because of multiple people with gunshot wounds. Police say five people were shot, and all of the injuries are non-life threatening.

Officers say the shooting took place in the alley of 917 West 3rd Street, near the intersection of Third and Warren Streets.

Police remained on scene until noon Friday, photographing evidence and talking with residents of the apartment building.

Neighbors say the woke up to gun shots shortly after 4 a.m., and that the violence isn't uncommon.

"This is going on all the time. It needs to stop, because we live here, and this is our home. We don't feel safe coming out of our houses. A certain time comes, like 5 or 6 o'clock, and we're inside already," said one woman.

The Detective Bureau is investigating the shooting.
