Woman who faked cancer on $100 per month payment plan

An Illinois woman who faked cancer for profit was court-ordered to begin a monthly payment plan to repay her victims. But it will be a slow process.

A Chicago-area woman who faked cancer for profit was court-ordered to begin a monthly payment plan to repay her victims. But it will be a slow process.

Kristin Holzman was convicted on a felony theft by deception charge in 2012, for accepting money from sympathetic donors who thought she was dying of brain cancer. Several fundraisers were held in Henry County, Illinois on her behalf.

Holzman was released from prison in March after serving 11 months of a three-year sentence.

Judge Jeff O'Connor accepted a deal for Holzman to start paying $100 a month in restitution in a proceeding June 1, 2015.

Holzman owed $16,000, but forfeited her $6,000 bond. That means she still owes $10,000.

The ex-Henry County hairdresser is living in the Chicago area. She declined comment after court.
