A 56-year-old man, wanted for previous eluding charges, was accused of leading police on a high-speed pursuit over the weekend.
A deputy tried to stop a Ford Mustang, driven by 56-year-old Gregory Myers, for improper registration just after 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015. Instead of pulling over, Myers allegedly led the deputy on a pursuit that reached speeds of 130 miles per hour according to Muscatine County Sheriff C.J. Ryan.
"(T)he deputy used legal intervention to bring the vehicle to a stop" in a ditch along 102nd Street and Taylor Avenue, east of Wilton, the sheriff said. Myers was reportedly not hurt.
Myers was arrested for eluding, possession of a firearm by a felon and multiple traffic offenses, Sheriff Ryan said.
"Myers was also wanted on a warrant from the 8th Judicial District for Parole Violations stemming from previous Eluding and Possession of a Firearm by a Felon charges," Sheriff Ryan said.
Myers was held in the Muscatine County Jail.
