Moline Police made a spectacle at Dunkin’ Donuts to raise money for Special Olympics.

The “Cop on a Rooftop” event, which literally placed a cop on a rooftop, was held Friday, May 29, 2015. Officers were on the roof of the Avenue of the Cities donut shop starting at 5 a.m. and were set to be there until 2 p.m.

Donations were accepted for the Law Enforcement Torch Run which benefits Special Olympics Illinois. Everyone who donated got a coupon for a free doughnut. Donations over $10 were rewarded with a free coffee mug.

Dunkin’ Donuts pledged to donate $15,000 to the Torch Run Fund. Click here for more information on the run.

Over the last 29 years, Illinois police have raised more than $35 million through the Torch Run. Every year, more than 3,000 officers run 1,500 miles carrying the Flame of Hope through the streets of Illinois.

The fundraising goal for 2015 is $4 million.
