Update–

Less than an hour after an Amber Alert was issued regarding a missing 12-year-old and a 16-year-old, the alert was cancelled.

According to the Iowa Department of Public Safety (DPS), 12-year-old Bayli Jordan and 16-year-old Jamie Panko had last been seen on Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in the late afternoon.  Police were alerted that the two students did not show up to class at Clay Central Everly Community Schools.

They were found by Sheriff’s Deputies in Cherokee County around 3:20 p.m. Both were uninjured and safe when they were found.

“This investigation is continuing and criminal charges are pending upon completion,” said a statement from the Clay County Sheriff. “Both juveniles are currently being held for their safety.”

The Iowa Amber Alert website identified Panko as an abductor, but the Iowa DPS said no abduction had occurred.

“Authorities do not believe that either children were abducted, but because of their age and the concern for their safety, criteria was met to issue an Amber Alert,” according to a statement from the Iowa Department of Public Safety.
