Some students in East Moline got a very special send off to summer break.
It's the last day of school at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy. Fourth grade teacher Julianne Teerlinck wanted to give her students a memory they could take with. Teerlinck told her students she would shave her head to raise money for childhood cancer. For a month the school raised money, but her class came out on top. Her class of 15 raised close to $650.
On Thursday, one by one her students helped shave her hair off. Teerlinck says it's been a goal of hers for some time.
"I lost one of my good friends in high school to Leukemia and I just felt like it was the right time to do it," said Teerlinck.
Sending her students off with a memory they won't forget and hopefully a message too.
"I feel this is a good way to give back," said Teerlinck.
Altogether the school raised a little more than $2,000. The money will be given to the St.Baldrick's foundation.
