Motorcyclist killed in collision with van in Knox County

A motorcycle driver died from injuries he suffered when he collided head-on with a van. The crash was reported just before 4 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015.

A motorcycle driver died from injuries he suffered when he collided head-on with a van.  The crash was reported just before 4 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015.

Cecil Kellar, 34, was riding a 1991 Harley Davidson motorcycle eastbound on Knox Highway 10, when he collided with a westbound 2006 Chevrolet Express van just west of Knox Road 350E, according to a statement from the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

Kellar was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Galesburg, where he was pronounced dead.

The van was owned and operated by Renzenberger, Inc., which transports employees for BNSF, the sheriff's office statement said.  The van driver was taken by ambulance to a different hospital. where he was treated for his injuries and later released.

Illinois State Police investigators were working to determine the exact cause of the crash by reconstructing the incident.
