The Pleasant Valley Girls Track Team won the Class 4A State title in the spring of 2014, only to have it stripped away weeks later.

In 2015 the Lady Spartans returned for another shot at the championship, and this time they were playing for keeps.

On Saturday, May 23, at Drake Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa, Pleasant Valley entered day three of the meet with their sights set on the state title.

The team was off to a great start in the Distance Medley where Addie Swanson raced from behind to give Pleasant Valley not only the state title, but a new state record of 1:44.

In the 4x10 Shuttle Hurdle Medley, the team of Ellie Spelhaug, Kelli DeGeorge, Claire Park, and Carly Donahue struck gold, earning major points for the Lady Spartans.

In the 200 meter,  Emma Whgham, a first-time track athlete, took second with a time of 24.96.

More points were also earned for Pleasant Valley in the 1500 meter where McKenzie Yanek finished second.

Down to the 4x400 meter relay, Donahue and Spelhaug were back and joined by Swanson and Maddi Banks. The girls cruised to a first place finish and ran away with the Class 4A State Title.
