A 53-year-old man died when he was reportedly walking in the road and was struck by a semi on East Lincolnway in Morrison, Illinois.
The man was reportedly walking westbound, against traffic, when the eastbound tractor-trailer, driven by a 54-year-old man from Chariton, Iowa, struck him. The wreck was reported on East Lincolnway just west of North Sawyer Road, just after 9 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2015.
The man, later identified as Fredrick J. Taylor from Rock Falls, Illinois, was struck while he was “in the semi’s lane of traffic,” according to a statement from Morrison Police Chief Brian Melton. Taylor was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
No other injuries were reported.
