A squad car in Silvis, Illinois was hit in an intersection when the driver of a 2000 Ford Ranger ran a red light, witnesses say.

The squad car was on its way to the Rock Island County Jail when the crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2015.  A statement from the Moline Police Department indicated that the truck was heading north on 19th Street when it ran the red light, striking the squad car heading westbound on 4th Avenue.

The truck rolled over onto the driver side and slid through the intersection, according to the statement.  Passersby were pulling the driver out of the truck through the back window when first responders arrived.

The driver of the truck, 26-year-old Blake Kirschbaum from Davenport, Iowa, was arrested for disobeying a traffic control device as well as driving under the influence.
