About 250 students celebrated their graduation from Monmouth College Sunday, May 17, 2015.
Before walking across the stage, the graduates heard a commencement speech from one of President Barack Obama’s leaders in the fight against ISIS, General John Allen.
As the students walked across the stage to collect their diplomas, school leaders said they saw the ceremony as a stepping stone.
“It’s a sign of achievement in so many ways,” said Monmouth College President Clarence Wyatt. “Certainly intellectual achievement, but growth in character, growth in maturity. It’s just one of the great moments in American life.”
The school has a student population of about 1,300.
