A Davenport woman spent less than three hours in jail after she was arrested for allegedly driving while intoxicated, with two children in her car.

Police were sent to the area of the 1200 block of Washington Street at about 11:30 p.m. Sunday, May 17, 2015, after someone reported an intoxicated driver there.  Officers found and pulled over the suspect vehicle, driven by 32-year-old Rachel Anklam, in the 1500 block of North Marquette.

Two children, ages eight and 12, were in the vehicle, police said.

“The defendant had bloodshot watery eyes, slurred speech and the odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from her breath,” said an affidavit from Davenport Police.  “The defendant admitted to drinking alcohol earlier in the evening and there were several open alcohol containers inside the vehicle.”

When Anklam stepped out of her vehicle, officers said they saw a prescription bottle that contained 3.65 grams of marijuana in plain view between the door sill and the driver’s seat in the car.

Anklam refused sobriety tests from police, the affidavit said.

Anklam was arrested and booked into the Scott County Jail.  Jail records showed she was charged with two counts of child endangerment, one count of operating while intoxicated (first offense), one count of open container and one count of possession of a controlled substance.  All of the charges were misdemeanors.

Jail records showed Anklam was released after posting $3,300 bond about two-and-a-half hours after she was booked into the jail.
