A subject was in custody hours after a Stark County school district went on lockdown as authorities searched for someone who was potentially “dangerous.”

A spokesperson from the Stark County Sheriff’s Department confirmed that School District 100 was on lockdown starting around 10:35 a.m. Friday, May 15, 2015.  This included the elementary school, jr. high school, and high school located in Wyoming and Toulon, Illinois.

The sheriff’s department confirmed that the school lockdown was enacted out of “an abundance of caution,” as Stark County News reported.  Police were looking for a male who was potentially dangerous.

Just before 3 p.m., the suspect was taken into custody, according to a statement from the Stark County Sheriff’s Department. Henry County Sheriff’s Department and the Illinois State Police assisted.

It was announced that no buses would be running after school was over.  In addition, all activities and games have been cancelled.  Parents were asked to pick their children up and sign them out.  Students who drove to school needed verbal consent for their child to drive home.
