An accomplished drummer came to the Quad Cities to mentor kids at the QC Rock Academy.
Garrett Goodwin, the drummer for Carrie Underwood's band, shared his dreams, journey, and gave tips on how it's all done.
Goodwin said he grew up playing drums in church. When he was just 17 years old, he picked up and moved to Nashville.
"It was always a dream to play for a big artist," Goodwin said. "I couldn't ask for a better artist to play for."
He said he gets a lot of questions from young drummers about what it takes to make it.
"You always have to make connections, you always have to network," Goodwin said.
