Traffic on nearly one mile of Illinois Route 5 will be down to one lane as construction crews make repairs.
Work on the Rock Island, Illinois roadway will start Monday, May 11, 2015. It will span through the Blackhawk State Historic Site east of US 67 from 13th Street to 24th Street.
On the .8 miles of roadway, crews will be making slope repairs, fixing drainage inlets, milling off sections of the existing surface, making repairs to the pavement and resurfacing the road.
If you’re driving in that area, be prepared to stop for flaggers who will be directing traffic past the work areas. Work on the roadway is expected to be done in early July.
The project costs $511,444 and will be completed by Valley Construction Company.
Don’t forget: The River Drive exit for traffic heading Illinois-bound on I-74 will be closed starting Monday, May 11. The exit was temporarily reopened for the winter, but needs to be closed again for crews to complete the paving for River Drive and its ramp connections.
