The Moline Police Benevolent Association is holding an event for five year-old Noah Stone on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at Crabby's Bar and Grill in Coal Valley, Illinois. The association is collecting money from 11:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. that day. The money is going to the Paws for Noah Campaign.
Stone has epilepsy and needs a service dog to help him with his seizures. The Jordan Catholic School Builder's Club presented a $500 check to the association on Friday, May 8, 2015. Stone and his grandmother Betty, were at the presentation. The students collected money for Stone through fundraisers they did during the year. Betty says it's amazing that students this young, are trying to help out Stone.
"I know a lot of older people think that the younger generation has gone [bad]," Betty said Thursday. "They haven't. It's a proven fact, so that was wonderful."
The association needs about $15,000 to pay for the service dog. The group believes they'll have enough money to get Stone the service dog, if enough people donate to the cause Saturday.
