There could less money to spend helping those who are victims of domestic violence and sexual assault.

The Iowa House of Representatives passed its version of the budget. If the budget were to pass $1 million would be cut from programs serving victims. The staff at Family Resources in the Quad Cities says that would mean more 200 people wouldn't have access to the programs. The cut would come at a time when more people need help.

"Serving fewer victims at a time when we're starting to reach out to the most vulnerable individuals is devastating for us," said Nicole Cisne Durbin, director of SafePath Survivors at Family Resources.

The Senate passed its own version of the same budget plan that does not include cuts. Both chambers will have to agree on one plan.  Family resources is encouraging people to contact their local Representatives.
