Quad Cities Navy Week started with a bang as Navy Explosive Ordinance Disposal technicians showed Putnam Museum visitors what their job is all ab out.

The technicians were at the Putnam as part of the Navy's outreach program, which answers questions about what the Navy does and how they contribute to security around the world. Sailors from the USS Constitution also visited with Putnam guests, explaining the history of the world's oldest commissioned warship and how STEM education (science, technology, engineering, and math) is important for students interested in a future with the Navy.

"Navy Weeks focus a variety of outreach assets, equipment and personnel in a single city for a week-long series of engagements with key influencers and organizations representing all sectors of the market. More than 75 outreach events are coordinated during a Navy Week with corporate, civic, government, education, media, veterans, community service and diversity organizations within the host city," said information from the Navy.

The week's events lead up to the 2015 Quad City Airshow, set for Saturday and Sunday, May 9 and 10, 2015.
