A comedy night was planned to help raise money for the Humility of Mary Shelter, which provides temporary and permanent housing for people experiencing homelessness.

ComedySportz Quad Cities and magician David Casas teamed up to raise money for the shelter. They planned a special showcase at The Establishment in Rock Island for Sunday, May 3, 2015.

Tickets for the show were $10. That amount supports one bed for one night at the shelter.

"Events like 'Helping With Humor' allow us to continue assisting those most vulnerable in our community through the services at Humility of Mary Shelter, Inc." said Cindi Gramenz, Program Director of the shelter. "We value each community member that chooses to support us, and a great way to do that is a fun afternoon with out team, David Casas and ComedySportz!"

Doors opened at 5 p.m. and an art exhibit was set up before the show featuring pieces created by Humility of Mary Shelter participants.  Food and drinks were also set to be available throughout the evening.

"Our goal is to raise enough money to fund the shelter for several nights, we want to raise our community up; bring them together for a good cause and a laugh," said ComedySportz owner and comedian Patrick Adamson.

All the money raised goes directly back to the shelter in support of their programs.
