In their annual trip to the capital, 35 members of the Quad Cities Chamber met with national policymakers to discuss several issues in the Quad Cities.

The group traveled there on Thursday and met with officials all day Friday on issues such as the I-74 bridge construction project, the Rock Island Arsenal's future, and flood insurance reform.

Tara Barney, the President and CEO of the Quad Cities Chamber, said they spoke to officials at the Department of Transportation on what remains to be done with the I-74 bridge construction project.

"The federal government has not had a long-term transportation bill for a long time and we as a community believe strongly that they not only need a continuing resolution, which is good for two or three months, but a four, or five, or six-year appropriations bill, so that communities like ours can be strategic about what our transportation needs actually are," Barney said.

Barney also said the Rock Island Arsenal was positive and that no BRAC is expected in the near future.
