Missouri Valley Conference (MVC) Senior Associate Commissioner Patt Viverito says the MVC Men's Basketball Tournament is not likely to come to the Quad City area.

Viverito talked to News 8 on Friday, May 1, 2015. She's attending the Spring Conferences for the MVC. The MVC is bringing its Women's Basketball Tournament to the Quad Cities though, starting March 10, 2016. Conference officials also said Friday, the men's tournament will likely stay in St. Louis, Mo.

"Arch Madness has been in St. Louis for 25 years," Viverito said. "They've built a tradition there. It would be hard to duplicate that in a market this size."

The Women's Basketball Tournament will be at the I-Wireless Center in 2016, 2017, and 2018. The Quad Cities Convention and Visitor's Bureau would like to have the tournament for 2018 and 2019 as well. The MVC can agree on a two year extension with the arena if it wants.

To get ready for the MVC Women's Tournament, the I-Wireless Center will be holding two women's games during the regular season. One game will feature Northern Iowa and Akron. Illinois State will play Northern Illinois University in the second game. Both games will be on Sunday, December 13, 2015.
