Nearly a dozen people were reportedly arrested in a prostitution sting in Waterloo, Iowa.
There were 11 arrested in the sting on Tuesday, April 28, 2015, according to a post shared by the Waterloo Police Department. It happened at a hotel in the area.
One of those arrested was 29-year-old Travis Brandon Biggs, who had recently announced he is running for Ward 4 of the Cedar Falls City Council, according to a report by KWWL. After the arrest Biggs said he was suspending his campaign.
“I have no comment as to the pending case,” Biggs reportedly said in an email to KWWL. “Regardless of the outcome, I will be suspending my campaign to concentrate on my family, effective immediately.”
Another arrested was Sirr Ramon Cortez Gardner, 35, of Waterloo. KWWL reported that Gardner is a youth coach with the Junior Wahawks Football program.
Others arrested included 30-year-old Osamah Sadiq Alabbad, 42-year-old Cynthia Ruth Jo Arshad, 23-year-old Anglene Kristina Marie Garrett, 42-year-old Adem Sakanovic, 46-year-old Stephen Preston Thomas, 27-year-old Lamin Trawally, 23-year-old Sade Deserii Vanardale, 28-year-old Tigstu Sebsibe Woldeyohanns, and a 17-year-old, according to the report.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation assisted in the investigation.
