On July 25, 2015 bicyclists will be rolling into Davenport to dip their tires in the Mississippi River after a long ride across the state of Iowa. With just a few months left, the final route into town was unveiled.
RAGBRAI 43 starts on July 18 in Sioux City and riders will have biked more than 460 miles before hitting their Davenport destination. RAGBRAI riders will enter into Davenport from W. Locust Street, head south on Utah Avenue, and then finish out the route on W. River Drive.
Riders will dip their tires into the river at Credit Island. Click here to see the map of the route.
After the final dip, riders will continue to a post-ride landing spot. There, riders will have access to the Bix Street Fest, shuttle service, RAGBRAI vendors, and other festivities, according to Davenport Today.
"Davenport's theme this year is 'Where the Road Meets the River' and with our miles of unobstructed Mississippi River views, world-class parks, extensive recreation paths and thriving downtown, we have the opportunity to showcase our wonderful community to people from across the region, the country and even the world," said Mayor Bill Gluba.
Davenport will be busy that morning with the Bix 7 race happening as well. Thousands of riders and thousands of runners will be bustling around town that day. Gluba referred to Davenport as "the center of the Iowa sporting world" on July 25.
Davenport Today said information about parking, shuttle schedules, t-shirts for sale, and how to volunteer will be posted on RAGBRAI's website starting on May 1.
