For almost 50 years, the Davenport Boxing Club has produced championship boxers. They have been in the same downtown Davenport location since 1985, but are looking for a new location because they say the building where they rent space has been sold.

"We gotta keep it going," said Patrick Pena.

The gym was started in 1968 by his father, Alvino Pena.

"We didn't have nothing growing up, you know. Cause he was using money, going to hotels, paying for fights, and gas out of his own pocket," said Pena.

"Some people find their destiny at the end of their life, but I found mine. This is where I belong," said Leonard Overstreet, who says Pena and boxing saved him.

"It made me believe in myself when nobody else believed in me," he said.

The club needs to be out of their downtown Davenport location by July 6, 2015. The non-profit is looking for a space downtown because many of the kids walk to the gym.

Any business or property owner with information about a space can contact the Davenport Boxing Club.
