An Iowa man died when he fell from a water tower in Clinton County, Illinois.

Dustin Spilman, 31, of Ventura, Iowa, was reportedly painting at the top of a 100-foot-high water tower in the small town of Damiansville, Illinois, when he fell from the tower just before 2 p.m. Monday, April 27, 2015. Spilman reportedly worked for Central Tank Coating, based in Elgin, Iowa.

Spilman was pronounced dead just at a hospital at about 2:30 p.m.

It was not yet clear whether he was wearing a safety harness at the time of the fall, or what caused Spilman to fall. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration was expected to investigate the incident.

Damiansville is about 30 miles southeast of St. Louis.
