A little boy had told his parents someone talked to him at night. It wasn’t until they heard it themselves that the parents realized his baby monitor had been hacked.
“Wake up little boy, daddy’s looking for you.”
That was the message that came over on their son’s baby monitor, according to a report by CBS News.
“Well I started to cry in there, because it all started coming back to me, and I started figuring things out,” the mom said.
“My wife walked in and I heard the exact words say, “Look someone’s coming” or “someone’s coming into view,”” the boy’s dad said to CBS New York.
The parents also noticed that the monitor moved even when they weren’t controlling it; their baby monitor had been hacked.
The parents reported the incident to the company they purchased the monitor from, Foscam, according to a report by Daily Mail. Unfortunately it’s not possible to find out who hacked the device.
According to CBS New York, Mashable Chief Correspondent Lance Ulanoff said the best way to protect your family’s privacy is by upping security passwords. He said you should change the default password to something that is hard to guess.
“If somebody else has your login information, they can go to that same app, and log into your webcam, which is what happened there, Ulanoff said to CBS New York.
