A vehicle packed with five people collided with an Illinois State Trooper who was driving with a prisoner in the front seat, police say.
The trooper was headed westbound on 4th Avenue in Rock Island, Illinois, according to a statement from the Illinois State Police. He was taking a prisoner to the Rock Island County Jail when a vehicle ran the red light at 24th Street and hit the squad car. The crash happened just after 12:30 a.m. Sunday, April 26, 2015.
Police said there were five people inside the vehicle that collided with the squad car, including the driver, 28-year-old James Fennesy. All of them were taken to a nearby hospital. The trooper and his prisoner were also taken to the hospital. Everyone was treated and released.
Fennesy was arrested for DUI, according to the statement.
