Thousands of Harley-Davidson motorcycles are being recalled because of parts that may have been missed in production.

Nearly 9,000 motorcycles with model year 2015 are part of the recall, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.  XG500 motorcycles manufactured from January 28, 2014 to March 9, 2015 and XG750 motorcycles made from May 12, 2014 to March 9, 2015 are part of the recall.

“The affected motorcycles may have been manufactured without a rear reflector assembly,” said the NHTSA’s recall information.

Because of this missing rear reflector, the motorcycles do not comply with federal requirements.

A motorcycle that is missing a rear reflector can make it tougher for other drivers on the road to see it, increasing the risk of a crash.

If you own one of these recalled vehicles, dealers will install a rear reflector for free. Owners can contact Harley-Davidson service at 1-800-258-2464. The recall number is 0620.
