The Davenport Fire Department did a simulation response on Thursday, April 23, 2015 to high school students who crashed their vehicle after a night of drinking. The West High School students had just finished their prom night.

The simulation, called Operation Prom Night, was done at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds in west Davenport. One person died in, but seven others were injured. The head on collision involved one drunk driver and another driver whose wife and daughter were hurt because of it. Students say this simulation is a good way to explain that they shouldn't drink and drive on the night of their prom.

"We just don't want the students to be drinking this weekend and getting into a car accident, and risking their lives," Davenport student Miranda Patterson said.

A recent study showed that 54 percent of high school students will have four or more drinks on their prom night. Davenport West's prom night is Saturday, April 25, 2015.
