In an attempt to help prom-goers make responsible decisions,  high school students  in Davenport, Iowa watched a simulation of what a deadly crash would be like.

Ahead of the big dance, firefighters and first responders helped stage the scene which showed a head-on collision with someone who had been thrown from their vehicle laying on the hood.  It was all to show what could happen if students drink and drive.

Students said the scene was a good reminder to make the right decisions.

"Since prom is this weekend, we just don't want the students to be drinking this weekend and getting into a car accident, and risking their lives," said Davenport West student Miranda Patterson.

After the demonstration, police are asking parents to have a conversation with their kids about this issue.
