Burlington, Iowa Police used social media to quash rumors that six officers had resigned from the department.
Rumors reportedly circulated online Wednesday, April 22, 2015, claiming a half-dozen officers had simultaneously walked off the job. It’s a claim the Burlington Police Department flatly denies.
“Some recent social media has generated some misinformation indicating that 6 (officers) have left the Burlington Police Department. We have not received any notice of resignation or intent of resignation from any of our officers today,” said an April 22 Facebook post from the Burlington Police Department.
It was not yet clear how the rumor started.
