A Quad Cities woman has a warning tonight after her wallet was stolen during a simple trip to the grocery store.
It was a normal trip to Aldi for Marilyn Lehman. She stopped by the store on Brady Street Wednesday afternoon to pick up a few groceries for dinner.
"I was loading those groceries into my car when all of a sudden there were swarm of three kids that just descended around my car," said Lehman.
She says two of them grabbed her groceries and offered to help put them in her car.
"I said 'No I want to put my own groceries away, thank you anyway' and they just kept grabbing the groceries," said Lehman.
That's when the third suspect grabbed her billfold out of her purse.
"I started screaming you stole my billfold. He started running," said Lehman.
Two other customers who witnessed the whole thing took off after them in their car. Lehman was able to get her billfold back as the kids ditched it, but her money was gone.
"It's not that it was a huge amount, it's the fact that I felt violated. I don't feel safe coming here anymore," said Lehman.
Lehman met with Mayor Bill Gluba and Davenport's Police Chief on Thursday about the problem. She wants other customers to beware.
Police are upping their patrol for the area and say they are still investigating the case.
